This American League is weak.

Tigers have played pretty dang good baseball since June 1st.

They have one of the best starting rotations in the league, but they ultimately chose to part with Tarek Skubal.

So that tells you a little bit about their thinking.

This is a front office that's been known as patient and pragmatic and still focused on the long game.

And I felt like they must have felt like Skubal was the one piece that really the return was so good.

They felt they just had to trade him.

You know, on paper, I think it's fair.

I mean, I think I told someone a long time ago, you know, what can they get for Terry Scouble?

Well, if you can get maybe a top in, top 100 guy, a back in, top 100 guy, and then maybe a lottery ticket.

And the Tigers got that, if not a little better, depending on what prospect rankings you go by.

They got two top...

100, top 70, top 50 prospects in Zaire Hope and River Ryan.

You know, a lot of people are knocking the trade, especially because it got done early.

Why didn't the Tigers take this down to the wire?

Could they have leveraged the Dodgers and got more?

That's one of those questions we'll probably never quite know the answer to.
