There's still a world where the Tigers could win the AL Central, which is amazing.
Now, given there's a little bit of a gray area, I've seen a lot from fans and others kind of speculate, well, what if the Tigers just
traded Scooble, tried to get like a big league-ready piece, and continued to go for it.
That would be an interesting way to thread the needle, right?
You get some assets for Scooble, you set yourself up for the future, but you don't totally punt on the 2026 season.
It's an interesting idea.
I think it's a little bit counterintuitive because if you're trying to win in 2026, wouldn't you want the back-to-back reigning Cy Young winner, a guy who can be a terrific asset in both the regular season and even more so in the postseason on your team?
As much as the Tigers don't quite have the resume of a World Series contender right now, the American League is weak and it's wide open.
And the Tigers have been the AL's best team since June 1st.
So there are a lot of fascinating dynamics here.
Now, all that said, I don't know, Tigers, if they were to get swept by the Phillies and lose another series and they're back to the five-plus games out, the picture blurs.
So that's why it feels like there's just so much weight riding on each game right now.
Can the Tigers continue to state their case to keep this thing together?
Yeah, it was a pretty phenomenal recovery.
He was right back out there, and for the most part, he's looked like himself.
Maybe the raw results haven't quite been Cy Young form, but he misses a ton of bats with the changeup.
