We may not have decided to write a time travel novel.
It took a lot of plotting and replotting and plotting.
But, you know, again, because there's two of us, it was sort of, it was fun.
We got to sort of plait together these timelines and unknot the kind of knotty plot problems.
It's not a book about astrophysics.
I think he's definitely inspired by, you know, a few of the billionaires that we see in the news.
But yeah, we couldn't have him be a completely kind of flat baddie.
He's driven and he's obsessive.
And, you know, instead of, say, being obsessed with space travel, he's obsessed with going back in time.
And he sort of hasn't unpacked, nor really...
cares very much about the impact that that might have on the world and on sort of individuals who aren't these billionaires who he's sending back in time.
It's the ripple effects on normal people that he just hasn't considered.
It turns out when we started researching it, a few people were like, oh, no, I grew up like that, eating a lot of lentils.
No, we very much picked their brains.
And we have a friend who read kind of early drafts and fed back.
So it comes from a place of actual experience, which was brilliant.
And we did a lot of walking around the city, you know, sort of, you know, most British cities, if you kind of walking around with an eye to it, it is a bit like time travel.
So, you know, we did, we walked a lot of the routes in London where we kind of sent our characters back to.
I recommend it.
So it's from the start of the book, which opens with a trip back to 1941.
