Um I grew up in Western Australia, which gives me a bit of a different view of these things.

And I was on the I was involved with the commission when the national competition was formed.
There was no chance of it being a fairly
allocated bunch of teams because everybody wanted their teams in it.
And so the the early AFL competition was the VFL expanded somewhat.
Um now you've got a situation now where people in Victoria seem to regard the continued existence of their teams as a right.
Basic.
football supporters should be guaranteed that.
But the very s the same people who argue that on the base of equity don't seem to give a stuff.
about the interstate teams, storied famous more than a hundred year old teams like Norwood or Southwick Mantle that were I d y described them as road kill on the way to the national competition and I don't think that's fair.

And the only thing I'd say to that is that the trauma that for example was associated with Fitzroy disappearing
Fitzroy was disap was replaced by a club that had probably four or five times as many grassroots supporters than they did, which was Port Adelaide.
And so um the question that I ask people, would we be better off if South Melbourne was still in Melbourne and Fitzroy was still here?
And it's hard to get people to say answer that yes.
So that in a sense the competition has grown and been better off because
Fitzroy finished up in Brisbane and South Melbourne finished up in Sydney, um, which leaves open the question that we'd be better off again if one of a a Melbourne club went somewhere else.

I think it's a massive issue.
