When I first started in comedy, I only had like subway, like real New York material.
And my first road gig, I never told you this one, was a road gig.
And I was opening for somebody in North Carolina, Nags Head.
Great club.
And I bombed every show, but we were staying at the owner's house.
And I thought this was normal, because this was my first gig.
This is a passive aggressive on their part.
The owner and his wife, and me and the headliner, sitting on couches every afternoon, and they would go over all the comment cards.
What a nightmare.
And we would sit there and read 150 comment cards.
And I thought, this is how we do our business.
But every one of them was like, the middle act was terrible.
He's not funny.
I mean, nobody curses North Carolina in the 80s.
Sure, sure.
He's terrible.
You should get rid of him.
He isn't that one joke.
