The these people are different from us.
They don't have our values.
They don't think like us.
Uh what are we doing here?
I mean, the average American
soldier or marine or navy corpsman would look around in Iraq or Afghanistan after a day or two and say, What are we doing here?
There's nothing here.
And these people don't want us here.
In other words, w w stop the nonsense about transforming Muslim Arabs into Anglo Saxon Democrats.
Forget it.
It's not going to happen.
But senior officers would come down and and sort of present that kind of garbage to them because the senior officers wanted to be known back in Washington or by their superiors as how supportive of the of the war effort they were.
Uh soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines do their duty.
Doesn't necessarily mean that they always like it.
And it doesn't necessarily mean that they always support it.
But they do their duty, and we should be very grateful for that.
But I do think it is reasonable to conclude that at least right now, certainly in the Navy, and perhaps with the Air Force, I don't know.
They they may or may not be as moved as the rest of us by all of this.
uh may not be very happy about living for months on end on an aircraft carrier under rather miserable conditions and then see very little action and when they do see action it's uh violent and short and then they wonder why they came at all.
Um these are the problems that you have in in any war.
