It just feels safer to fit in.

So we don't do this.

I know for me, like at one level, I play different music or I play different music if other people are getting in the car with me.

than what I would play on my own.

If I was on my own, I would probably just listen to some weird esoteric Kybalion podcast.

Somebody talking about ancient scrolls that had some magical wisdom that was found in some, I don't know, butcher in Cairo's basement after an earthquake.

I would listen to weird shit like that.

Or I would have

basic automatic Japanese piano music.

that just calms your nervous system.

That's what I would listen to.

But if somebody gets into the car with me, or if someone's coming around to my house, I immediately think, no, this music is too weird.

These podcasts are too strange.

I have to play something else.

Maybe I'll put on some more safe music, more mainstream music, something that will fit in a little bit better.

So already in that moment,

I can feel this deep primal urge in me to fit in.

And it's a great challenge for me.

In fact, it's a lot of fun for me to drive people places, to pick up people.

to have people share space with me and just play my weird-ass podcasts or minimal Japanese nervous system recalibrating music in the background, you know?
