Could you stop, you know, your couch covering a portion of your radiator or whatever it might be?
There are things that you could do, but like...
These are kind of a simplistic exercise.
Take a degree or two off your thermostat and you save yourself that amount of money.
The other thing that people can do is spend less time in the shower.
Now, this sounds really cheap.
It sounds like real miserly stuff.
But a shower uses around 10 kilowatts of energy.
per hour now let's say if we take the standard unit rate at 35 cent per kilowatt hour that means that a one hour shower would cost you 350 but obviously nobody's going to spend an hour in the shower but you might spend 10 minutes in the shower but if you were to go from 10 so a 10 minute shower is going to cost you 58 cent okay but if you go from 10 minutes to 7 minutes
you've knocked another 15 cent off the cost of your energy usage per day.
And you might think to yourself, sure, Conor, that's only 15 cent.
Spread that over the course of a year.
With four people, you're looking at another 150 quid saved off the cost of your energy bill.
So you add the 150 quid that you save from your shower usage being more economical to 350 quid you can save from your heating being more economical to the 600 quid that you saved on your switching.
And you're suddenly looking at close to a thousand euros that you've knocked off the cost of your bill.
And that alone, those steps alone would
easily outstrip any price hikes that are coming down the tracks.
But there's all sorts of other things.
I mean, one of the things that when I was growing up, I'm sure it was the same when you were growing up, Ciarán, is we were never allowed to put on the immersion.
Like on pain of death, would you put on the immersion?
