And he caught some flack initially, Matthew Perry did, because he made fun of Keanu Reeves in his memoirs.
But what's key about this when it ties in with what you're talking about, he was making fun of Keanu Reeves essentially for being like a dumb guy or a doofus.
He was making jokes about Keanu Reeves that were popular in 1995.
Because in the mid-'90s, people loved the idea of making fun of Keanu Reeves essentially as if he was his Bill and Ted character.

Not realizing he was just essentially doing a very old joke, not realizing that he didn't know how old this joke was.
