And this is one of the reasons I think Jeff Bezos is both so happy to financially and ideologically support Trump and also why he's so virulently anti-union.

Well, I think it's important to distinguish between the case in which the software can do your job, which is rare, and the case in which the software salesman can convince your boss to fire you and replace you with software that can't do your job, which is distressingly common.

It's important to make that distinction.

That is on $50 billion of industry-wide annual revenue.

Look, if you want to spend a trillion dollars and all you want is $50 billion back, I'll do it for you.

I'll put $950 billion under the mattress.

I'll give you back $60 billion because I'm a good-natured slob.

So in order to turn $50 billion in revenue into a profit when you're spending a trillion dollars a year to make it,

You have to imagine that you can remake the entire world, and in particular, that you can replace all the highest-waged labor.
