At that point, he was done with surgeries.
They weren't giving him any more pain medicine.
He'd go to the doctor, say he was in pain, and they're like, this is where you're at.
We can't give you anything else.
So he started finding people to buy pills from.
And it really did just feel like it became my responsibility when he would have a meltdown.
I would have to stop everything I was doing and try to talk him off of a ledge.
That's how it felt all the time.
I would have voicemails where he's just drunk, babbling.
It just was like, this is not how things are supposed to be.
And then it started to put a strain on my marriage at the same time because Matt would be like,
Like, you've got to step back.
And, like, this is not your problem to solve.
Like, you have kids that you have.
And it was, like, this fight of, like, it's my dad, though.
