It's tricky.
I think, though, if this is tricky, my initial thought is to try to not necessarily make friends with them, but to be warm, try to be friendly, be like a cool neighbor at first.
I think that could possibly do two things.
One, make them feel like they have someone in the building who can feel safe and supportive, that can feel like an outlet, possibly.
And I think that can also give you the opportunity to communicate with them about how you're feeling.
without it just feeling like someone is trying to come up to them and tell them what to do and make them feel uncomfortable in this new space that they're in.
I say it's tricky because with us, it might not matter how you come over and say anything nice, naughty, in between.
Sometimes we just don't want to hear shit at all.
