Like I say, my bigger issue with it was just the lack of emotional engagement with it.

Other people certainly have issues with its fidelity to the original text.

That's me.

Yeah.

Obviously, what I've discovered as well is that there's a lot of people who've suddenly decided they're absolute experts on the Odyssey.

That's me.

Online.

So again, that's another fun aspect of this.

You don't know how much you really want to believe from people.

But yeah, as I understand it, he has taken quite a few liberties, particularly with the characterization of Odysseus.

know turning him from this this brave adventurer with this burning desire to get home to his family uh into basically a vietnam vet with ptsd uh and survivor's guilt uh that's a very big change to the meaning of the story and again people who are familiar with it took issue with it um but apparently that all just lumps everyone into the same boat of just the casting became the focal point of everything so if you had any criticism of the movie

It had to be because of that, not anything else.

So it's an interesting approach.

But I mean, how to describe it?

I'd rather watch this 100 times over than just another piece of superhero slop or franchise, some old franchise like Star Wars or Jurassic Park getting recycled for the dozenth time.

So it's taken a stab at at least something a little more interesting.

So I guess if I was pushed, yeah, I'd rather that succeeded than other franchises.

films of lesser artistic merit um but still yeah it's it's ultimately i found it to be a bit of a slog um it's very slow paced uh it's very lacking in emotional resonance uh lacking in urgency took a lot of liberties with the characters yeah i still stand by my overall assessment in my video which is it's meh i didn't hate it didn't love it it's just in the middle because

I think the thing that always puts it into perspective for me is I do a weekly live stream.

And one of the segments that we've done on that is for each year of cinema, we'll go through some of the top movies of that year, the biggest box office earners, or some of the most well-regarded films of that year.
