It doesn't sound to me like there's any sort of inspectorate going to be set up to make sure that planning authorities are following this.
But the broad thrust of this is because it's a national planning statement.

And how, I mean, this is a new thing because it's been so hodgepodge for so many years that different councils interpret or have their own rules.
And many of these are built into county development plans.
So are county development plans now going to have to be reopened or does the NPS supersede all of that as well?
So it's a hugely complex matter.
But look, let's see how it plays out.
And I do think one other thing just to mention is that
James Brown, the Housing Minister, will also ask government today to note the protocol to allow survivors of domestic, sexual or gender-based violence to transfer time on the social housing waiting list between different local authorities.
This is actually quite important because it's been done to ensure there's no barrier to a household fleeing domestic violence to receiving services or to prevent families becoming homeless.
He's going to change that.
And many victims of domestic abuse will have to leave their area in order.
