You know, yeah, it's it's interesting times and what you say there it doesn't surprise me at all when these are the things we have to work with.

I think a lot of that sophistication, as I say, I think a lot of it does in the end derive from vocabulary and sentence structure.

So I think a lot of sophistication just does derive from just better better word choice.

Um and doesn't always necessarily mean picking the the fancy, fancy pants word.

And sometimes we get issues with students overwriting things, particularly at primary and like adding in, you know, far too many adjectives.

Um so that can be an issue too.

But I would say broadly speaking, yeah, you know, vocabulary choice.

I think one of the favourite pieces I pick out is one that it was on a piece about the ideal pet.

Um and they were talking about why dog's such a great pet to have.

And they were talking about um

You know, they can be so friendly and considerate, um, they can be obedient but also playful.

Uh uh you know, and just those words like friendly, considerate, obedient, playful, you know, that range of of vocabulary, uh, you know, that wasn't overwriting, that was appropriate to sort of talking about that.

And you've had weaker students who were very enthusiastic still about dogs and clearly like had dogs that they loved and there was a lot of enthusiasm coming out of the piece, but

Uh you know, they just weren't expressing themselves in that same way.

And I think a major part is the vocabulary.

I do also think a major part is the sentence structure.

I think, you know, one form of weak writing that you get is just um like no sentence structure at all.

Another form of weak writing is when you have just a lot of short sentences and then and then and then and then and then

And another form that's like grasping towards the sophistication but kind of failing is when you've got uh short sort sort of piling up complicated ideas but not really able to sort of demarcate them.
