My car broke down and the curtains fell down in my flat and my agent dumped me all on the same day.

That was pretty hard to take.

Yeah, I know I'm laughing now, but it was awful at the time.

I just thought, oh, crikey, it can't get any worse.

Because, you know, when you're a struggling actor, you have to live.

And, you know, I started to get some small parts.

I did Jesus Christ Superstar, which is where I first met Andrew and Tim.

I was in the chorus of that.

And then I did Grease.

I took over playing Sandy Dombrowski in Grease.

And then I did Billy with Michael Crawford at Drury Lane.

And that was a small part that I originated.
