I said, I don't want to do any more musicals.

And she said, no, no, this one you do.

You want to listen.

Just go and do what I say.

So I did.

And, of course, there on that album were all the sleeve notes, the life and times of Eva Perron, the wonderful lyrics, the story, the music.

I mean, everything about it.

It was like, oh, my gosh, the whole package, everything I would want to do was on this album.

And I became slightly obsessed about the idea of playing this wonderful part.

And so I rang her back and said immediately, yes, yes, set me up for an audition.

I want to go for it.

And that was the start of a very long process of about, I don't know, how many months of auditioning.

And every time I went, I would wear the same little blue dress that I bought at Kensington Market.

It was a

An original 40s blueprint frock.

I wore the same heeled shoes with an ankle strap and I pinned my hair up in the combs to look like a 40s kind of thing and to create the image of a 40s person.

And I sang Yesterday, On a Clear Day, and On a Wonderful Day Like Today.

Why they all seem to have day in the title is a mystery to me now, but they did.

And those were my three audition songs.

And I sang the same thing every time I went, week after week after week.
