And a laugh was what he remembered most about her.

It was everything coming at me from all angles.

And eventually, I just couldn't take it anymore.

And I couldn't speak or think straight, let alone play the role.

And I had other actors coming in, sitting at my desk when I'm putting my makeup on, telling me their family problems and expecting me to be a psychotherapist.

I mean, it was madness.

So what happened was I went one Sunday after another eight shows of the week, I got down to my parents' home in Felpham where they lived on the south coast and clearly my parents noticed I was not myself.

And I explained what was happening and I was in tears.

I kept crying all the time and that's one of the symptoms of a breakdown.

And I explained to my mother and father what had been going on and the stresses and the pressure I was under.

And my father said, that's it.

He said, you're not going into the studio next week to finish this album.

And furthermore, you're not going back to do this show.

You are going to see a doctor.

And they carted me off to the doctor.

And the doctor diagnosed emotional and physical exhaustion.

And he wanted to put me into hospital and put me into a coma for a week to sleep.

To which I said, absolutely not, because I thought I might not wake up.

So I said, no way.

But I did.
