but half of everything alexander is going to do in his military history sort of background is going to be siege stuff and it's sort of the other side as we said of what he brings to the table because he can't use the same skill sets that make him so useful at the granicus it's a different side of the brain if you will that's going to be employed in this and he has this engineering staff to work with and they look at the
I tried to look it up.
I don't know what the right number is, but if we imagined a circumference of the city walls here being somewhere between four and five miles, that's probably not too far off with the height of the walls at the highest point being like 45 feet, as we said, maybe with a 23 foot deep moat.
So that's going to make the walls even seem higher.
And it's 40 feet wide.
It has towers.
It has a couple of citadels.
It's going to be employing artillery on its side, too.
And when Alexander's going to build giant towers to overlook these walls so that you can shoot at them from above and so that you can have platforms for your siege engines, they're going to do the same thing on the other side.

sort of a mad they open the gates and have a mad rush with people who are carrying buckets of pitch and torches and at least in one case a bunch of guys who are armed and their job is to prevent the people who are going to try to stop the people that have the fire in the pitch and the people with the fire in the pitch are going to throw that onto the siege engines and try to light them all on fire and this is going to happen multiple times
And there's going to be a significant amount of fighting at night.
It's hard to keep track of kind of, but you do get this sense of over time.
Remember, this is days that you have stuff going on.
And like I said, a very different rhythm than the normal battles in the ancient world that are over in a day.
This is something where you have people working all the time.
And I was trying to get a sense of the pace, and I'm not sure I got the right one, but
