I was early on.
That's the way I kind of worked my way up.
Back then we had paperwork.
I would come in on Saturday and do my paperwork so I could spend all five days selling because there was about a day a week worth of just paperwork.
And most of the people I was competing with, for lack of a better term, were only selling four days a week because they had to do a day's worth of paperwork.
I think hard work plays a very, very big role.
I think it still does.
I'm very proud that my boys are
are hard workers.
I mean, actually, sometimes as a parent, I actually have to ask them to ease off a little bit and smell the roses.
Talking about another mentor that you mentioned in your book, Fred Amoroso, he came to you and said he thought you should be his successor, but you had doubts that you were ready.
How do you overcome that fear?
I think that's a great lesson.

You have to develop a broad set of skills, which often means moving to different parts of the company or the business, different functions that are going to be uncomfortable so that you have that holistic or broad view of the business.
