So as you mentioned, Andy, grapes were a bit of a commodity back then.

the idea of really radical idea at the time of tying the price of grapes to the retail price of the bottles basically produced from those grapes.
Would you explain the formula for our listeners and how on earth you came up with an idea like that?
And how did you get the...
producers, you know, the wineries to go along with it?
Because didn't the wineries really have a lot of power back then versus we'll call it the farmers?
Didn't you also institute long-term contracts because of the volatility in the industry as well?
And was that kind of uncommon at the time?
You also started requiring, I understand it, your name to appear on the wine label itself.
Uh, how has that worked out?
And again, how did you get the producers to go along with that?
I would agree with you.
I think it's, it's turned out to be just as a consumer beneficial to clearly beneficial to you and building your brand, but very beneficial to, uh, the producer as well, because you can, they can command a higher price when they see the Bechstoffer name on the, on the label.
I, I definitely see that.
So you studied engineering in college.
Did you apply anything from what you learned as an engineer to the grape growing business?
Kind of following up on that, you had a degree from Dartmouth's Tuck School.
