Trump says the ad from the Ontario government shows Ronald Reagan speaking negatively about tariffs is fake.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump said he is calling off trade talks with Canada because of the ad which he attributed to Canada.
He also posted that tariffs are important to the national security and economy of the U.S., and based on their egregious behavior, all trade negotiations with Canada are hereby terminated.
Ontario spent $75 million to broadcast the anti-tariff ad, focusing on Republican voters.
It featured former President Ronald Reagan speaking in 1987, saying in the long term, tariffs do not work.
The ad has been airing on all major U.S.

The latest community to be impacted, Snow Lake, more than 400 miles north of Winnipeg. The town was ordered evacuated late Friday as a large wildfire is threatening the area. About 6,000 people in nearby Flin Flon and the surrounding area have already been forced to leave.

Meanwhile, smoke from the wildfires in western Canada is causing hazy skies across North America. Imported steel and aluminum just got more expensive. President Trump's 50 percent tariffs on the metals kicked in Wednesday, doubling what they were earlier this week. Trump said last week the tariffs are needed to secure the steel industry in the United States. Martha Gimbel at Yale's Budget Lab estimates the price of new cars will jump by 13 percent because of the tariffs.
