I couldn't be anything that they were forced to be.

He would have had a pretty solid career as a boxer if he had stuck with it.
Incredible artist, made quite a living as a tattooist, self-funded in many of his prison stints.
My mom worked in many different industries along the way, wherever she could to support tattooing.

When they split up, she was very hyper aware that that's something I should have in my life.
And as a white woman from Wales, that's a lot to have traditional law put in your plate that you have to dish out to your son to keep him hyper aware of what's going on.

You don't, of course, remember fleeing Adelaide, but what does your mum tell you about fleeing Adelaide and going back to her home country of Wales?
I do remember the leaving of the house.
I do remember in the middle of the night waking up and being pulled out of the house.
I remember that, and I remember going to a train station, and I remember the train coming, and then I remember waking up in Wales a few years later.
And we left because...
of a very, very violent situation that my mum had determined was going to get worse and was not good for me.
I think she moved and got us out of that for me.
If he was a boxer, she must have been in fear of her life.
