It doesn't talk about how robust it has to be.
There is zero language in the Sarbanes Oxley compliance framework to describe what you
do with the result of the pen test, which incentivizes people to get the cheapest, fastest, dumbest possible thing they can, because if they check that box, they don't have to deal with it anymore.
And that's nine out of ten business.

So you've spent a lot more time in academia than I have.
So I'm sure you're way more familiar with this than I have had to endure.
But the concept of the work group or the study group where they staple you to five or six other people and you have some project that five or six people have to contribute to and invariably in almost every scenario what happens is one or maybe two people do all the work and the others just skate by and take credit.

So I don't know if that concept has a formal term to describe it, but that sentiment will carry from
Academic endeavors out to the workplace.
And so the reason that you get these places that can look when you talk to one or two people and they know absolutely jack shit, and you wonder how on earth they're able to put their shoes on their feet in the morning and go to work, it's because they are being dragged along by some competent person behind the scenes who is losing their absolute mind trying to keep their heads above water and trying to make
ends meet because the rest of the organization behaves like those people where they just skate by and do nothing or there's like a whole there's like a whole collegiate sort of approach to how to deflect, defer, delay.
Anytime somebody comes to you with work, you make up some excuse about how somebody else's approval needs to happen before you can do the work.
They need to go to this other person.
Oh, but it turns out oh shit that person's on paternity leave and they won't be back for three months.
