But obviously, I'm always on stage.

But when the play starts, before it even starts, the house lights were on.

And our brilliant director, Ramin Gray, says, like, you're out of character.

I want you to really look at the audience.

And because this thing doesn't start until the lights come on and then you step into the space.

So I'd always sort of look out and sort of see who's arriving like that.

And there was an actor in it called Richard Graham, whose best friend at drama school was Daniel Day-Lewis.

And...

he told us this in rehearsals.

I went, oh, it's wonderful like that.

And there's one particular performance coming towards the end of the run.

And I was, and I remember I came out of my dressing room and I was walking down the steps of Richard.

And he said, oh, by the way, my best mate's in tonight.

I went, oh, that's brilliant.

Fantastic.

I went, wait, what?

What?

Daniel Day-Lewis he went yeah I said Richard you can't tell me that I'm about to go out there and lead this play like what the mark like what do I do now like my heart's going like this and I thought I'm not going to look out into the audience I'm not going to do it in case I bump lock eyes with him and of course it got the better of me and I I was there listening to music and I just looked up

And slap bang in the middle of the auditorium at the Royal Court.
