They're human beings.
There is going to be a clunker.
The best pitchers in baseball have clunkers.
So we haven't seen it yet from those two guys in particular.
You know who becomes now, interestingly, maybe the third most important piece?
It's a guy that some people wanted to ship away in the offseason.
I think Jose Barrios becomes potentially the third most valuable asset in the starting rotation.
He's a workhorse, man.
That's the key.
Because Trey Savage isn't going to come back and give you a six or seven.
I don't foresee him stepping on a big league mound and right away it's, hey,
he's back to throwing 90 pitches and he's working into the sixth inning.
And you don't even know about the stuff.
Like even he's had a lot more fluctuation in terms of the quality of his stuff in the rehab appearances compared to Jose Barrios, who has maintained his velocity a lot better.
He's been able to show that his strikeout secondary pitches have been more effective.
So I think there's going to still be this curve between
that Yassavage is going to have to overcome in terms of building himself back up and also now going through a full big league season for the first time in his career, whereas Barrios has done this.
So I think sneakily, Barrios becomes now the number three most important piece of the puzzle because out of all those guys, he might represent one of the dudes that can work deeper into games to go along with your two horses at the front of the rotation in Gosman and Cease.
I couldn't agree more.
I thought tonight was really, really positive, really encouraging for him.
