He wanted to propose to me right after I graduated college. Right. Even when I was in college, I said, I don't want to be engaged while I'm in college. Let me finish school. Right. I want to live together for a year. Okay. Because we've never lived in the same place. We were very, very young. Yeah. We had never lived in the same place and we hadn't lived together. Yeah.
So I said, let's live together. Let's just like enjoy for one time. Like, being in the same location. And then I'm like, I know we're going to get married, but let's just like pump the brakes and enjoy spending time together. Yeah. So we got married
how old were you i was 25 25 okay same age as your mom was supposed to be 24 but it got canceled because of covid right okay got delayed another year we were ready to go got canceled yeah you couldn't be together with all the people and celebrate so that was yeah that was a four year period of no weddings yeah exactly no i was just gonna say also for long distance i feel like
making time for each other as if you're in the same place, like have FaceTime dates, make the same recipe, find an amazing recipe, get the same ingredients cooked together.
Exactly. And then watch the same movie or show over. You already do that.
In LA. He's in LA. Oh, that's far.
Ooh, I feel like you need something easy. Easy, easy. Yeah.
Yeah. I feel like a pasta and a salad is like a classic like date night. So like my first cookbook, Healthy Girl Kitchen, there's a penne a la vodka recipe. Oh, I love that. Yeah, but it's plant based, but it's amazing. So it's like coconut milk instead of dairy. So you're not going to be left with like the stomachache.
Okay.
Yes. So like a penne a la vodka with maybe like a Caesar salad. Great. Healthy, like a kale Caesar salad. Love it. It's in the book.
OK, I'm doing it.
We decided to move to Florida, one, because my husband works with his dad. They have a company together. And so they were going to be here working together. But I needed to leave the cold weather. I hated pumping gas. My hand was frozen by the time. Just the little things.
I don't want to scrape my windshield when I wake up in the morning or worry about my driveway blocking me in and I can't get any. It was like those little things where I was like, this lifestyle isn't for me in Michigan. But yes, this Florida lifestyle is just like a vacation all day.
We have a baby. Yeah, he is almost two.
This is a tricky time. It's a tricky time. He has a lot of feelings, a lot of emotions, but he is super smart, super cuddly, loves to, is now getting into like cooking and baking with me. Like we made little healthy, kid-friendly muffins.
That's a good question. I know. I feel like smoothies have been a real go-to because I can sneak some... That's your favorite.
Forever. Even like anyone who doesn't love eating vegetables or like a ton of greens. Right. Sneaking in spinach to a smoothie, even like frozen cauliflower, you don't taste it. Right. You can do... Even seeds are so good for kids and they're developing brains like hemp seeds, chia seeds, and then those get blended up and are so good for them.
Parents assume that their kids won't like healthy food. I think oftentimes parents make the decision for their children that they're going to prefer the chicken nuggets, the pizza, but we've made that up. It's just easier.
And I think introducing healthy foods at a young age to children is really important. So even just, I'll put out a platter of like cut up fruit, cut up veggies, and not even like, I'm not even like, hey, you have to eat this. I leave it out. And then he comes over and he's like pointing at things.
Or I make it for me.
