I didn't, but I lost 20 pounds. Oh my gosh. Yeah. And I wasn't trying to lose weight. Keep that in mind. And I was eating in abundance. Like I was full. I was eating whatever I wanted in the plant-based world. So maybe I'd go up to the salad bar three times and fill up my plate with all different kinds of beans and fruit and greens and seeds.
And then I'd go to the pasta bar and I had requested from my dining hall that they start to buy whole wheat pasta. And so they started carrying it because of me. Good for you. Yeah. And they were sauteing everything at the pasta bar in like a mystery oil. I had no clue what they were using. So I said, steam my vegetables, do marinara sauce instead of Alfredo, do the whole wheat pasta.
And so I just made these changes and added so many vegetables and fruit into my diet. And I just felt amazing. I lost 20 pounds. My heartburn went away. I never had to take my three hour nap again.
when it comes to the cooking um methods what would you tell people to cook with now like olive oil or avocado oil yeah or you can look on an olive oil bottle and it'll a lot of the times tells you tell you whether it's meant for um cooking or not cooking like have you seen like the dressed or virgin olive oil versus or like because sometimes you can't put certain olive oils in a hot pan
Like drizzle versus sizzle.
So there are some that are meant to not be heated, and then some that can tolerate being heated up, because they can become toxic at too high of a heat. Oh, wow. OK. But don't overthink it. Just like an organic extra virgin olive oil, make sure it comes in a glass.
dark container right so you don't use butter no that's dairy i don't just all you don't use and you don't use substitutes naturally because even i can't if i need to in like a baking let's say i'm making like cookies for people and i get like a vegan butter sure but at home like olive oil and avocado oil do the trick yeah okay good to know um so let's play this game should we bring it back
What about deviled eggs? I feel like they're a classic, although not vegan. I feel like if you are not a vegan, they're like great to bring to a party. I have a recipe actually for deviled potatoes where you have like little Yukon gold potatoes. You scoop out the middle, you whip it with everything you would for a deviled egg, like the mustard and the paprika and everything.
And you swirl it back into the potato and it's delicious.
Yeah. So I'll bring them. I'll bring those back.
It was never my thing.
Never had.
Danielle, any thoughts? I do. I feel like there's so much you can do. To me, 70 is young.
I do. I think there's so much more life left to live at 70. I think now we have the opportunity with so much information that we have of how to feel better, live longer. Like I would make sure to be eating a lot of anti-inflammatory foods. So like sweet potatoes, amazing. Lentil, like you could do a great lentil soup for lunch.
Like that's incredible for your bones and for different vitamins and plant protein. Even taking anti-inflammatory supplements like a turmeric supplement would be amazing for energy and just making sure you're fueling yourself. I think when you get older and especially with women's hormones after menopause, you start to have a decrease in appetite. Correct.
um and that can also lead to like a malnutrition so to make sure that even if you're forcing yourself to have an extra snack during the day um and i think a great way to do that is like a smoothie you can make a smoothie add like a protein powder um you could do like a sweet potato even for a snack i love doing that that's a good one um even just like a healthy cracker with hummus great extra snack yeah so a little extra snack a turmeric supplement fresh air
How do you know that?
Baking soda and coffee.
You'll have to try. On your next podcast, you have to try that.
And also, you know, like you need to trust your gut about who's a good friend. You know who's not a good friend to you. Do they care about you? Do they ask you about yourself when they see you? Do they just talk about themselves the whole time? Are they like, how's your family? Like, what's going on with you? Oh, you told me about that new job you started. Like, how's it going? Totally.
