Right, so there's some talk now of, well, we could geofence college campuses or even more modestly geofence freshman dorms or classrooms.
And people say, well, people will cross the street or whatever.
It's like, sure, but it would be a deterrent or just on principle, it might make sense.
Things like that, friction points,
are such a buzzword because the industry has been very effective at making it as frictionless as possible.
That especially seems like the apt way of describing this micro-betting where you're betting play by play.
And a psychologist at the University of New Mexico who studied this said,
Just like we don't sell 200 proof ethanol to get you drunk faster.
Maybe you would want to put some friction points in place so that people pump the brakes a little bit or are given the chance to take a breath and say, am I getting out of control here?
I've seen some compelling studies over the past couple of years that are able to isolate states that have legalized sports betting and those that haven't and see what the consequences are.
And there is a demonstrable impact where it's legal.
