I missed the penalty at Portugal.
I was going through a real horrible stage as a footballer.
A growth period, but at the same time, a difficult period as well.
And as I said, it was soul-destroying getting sold.
But the beauty of it was that I was getting sold to a great club in Manchester City.
I was getting the opportunity to play up front with Andy Cole.
Yeah, I remember his Newcastle days obviously when he was on fire, I think 40 odd goals he was scoring the season.
I remember being at my secondary school and our football kit was exactly the same as Newcastle's, it was the black and white stripes and obviously me growing up, that's the player who I was emulating, I wanted to be Andy Cole.
And I was top scorer for my football team and there was that sort of connection there.
So obviously to get the opportunity to play with him, given the conversations that I had with my school friends at the time, it was again a dream come true.
And it was the only way that I would ever accept myself leaving Aston Villa was to go on to another dream.
Really difficult.
I knew I had a job to do.
I was determined.
City was my home now, you know, and I wanted them...
Villa at the time to understand that I'd moved on, you know, to be at another big club and I'd done quite well for myself and wanted them to really believe in me.
He gave me a little call while I was, you know, Irma says, I'm going to give you one out of the doors.
No, but I think it was a mix-up with himself and the goalkeeper and I managed to capitalise on it.
I do get it.
I was of the same, you know, mentality when I played against Aston Villa at Aston Villa.
