Yeah, sure.
Great to be on, Andy, as always, chatting with you about anything to do with golf.
So we are, as you have said, we're going back to England's golf coast, as they call it.
I'm up there in the northwest, specifically to Birkdale in a few weeks, but that area is just peppered with brilliant golf courses, Andy, from Lytton to Hoylake to Birkdale and many, many more in between.
I have
enjoyed Birkdale so many times I've seen it in all its mood moods Andy I've seen cold winter days four club wins and I've had nice hot summer days there without a breath of wind either it is a very storied championship golf course it's got lots of championship history
I suppose the first thing to say is that that championship golf course term, it often just strikes me as such a nonsensical one.
But we'll get into a little bit about the history of how Birktale was iterated and reiterated.
And it sort of has as its backbone this hosting of championships, doesn't it?
You mentioned it's got 11 opens or this is going to be its 11th open.
But briefly on its history, Birkdale was formed in 1889 and then it moved to its current site in 1897 on the Birkdale Hills.
It was a nine-hole golf course originally.
And then the clubhouse was built then just around the turn of the century or 1900.
But they realized that it was built outside the boundary of the lease, so it had to be demolished.
And it was quickly rebuilt to satisfy all the legalities.
And the club was really thriving.
The most pressing issue around the time was one year at the Christmas dinner when the usual pig's head was removed from the Christmas dinner.
It wasn't to be seen.
And 24 signatories were put to a letter asking for it to be reinstated the next year, as it was such a great source of gastronomical delight to the members.
So all was really well in Birkdale.
