That's a really unique skill.
I don't think a lot of people have got that because obviously I work with Paul Clements as well.
Obviously he was number two for Ancelotti, Real Madrid, PSG, these people.
And as a manager, not too great.
But as a coach, brilliant, brilliant sessions.
Could really tinker little things that would make, as a player and as a team again, us better.
But as getting it out there for the player to understand and getting results, he struggled a little bit.
And I think that's a really unique skill that managers and coaches, to be able to do both, I think is tough.
He was another good one as well for me and I remember after I scored the 25 for Sunderland that season and he left me out of the World Cup, I remember they went to the World Cup at the end of that and it didn't go to plan, they struggled a little bit and I remember he called me up the very first squad after that and said, listen, I apologise for not taking you, I should have taken you, but from now on you're going to play for me and he stuck to his word.
I played in all the qualifiers, scored in I think four in a row
And again, I had the injury and then he gets, he ends up leaving.
But for me personally, he was brilliant.
He believed in me after the World Cup.
I wish he'd done it before because I might have gone.
But he did afterwards and he played me all the time.
And I think after seeing how it went at that World Cup, he knew he had to change.
I mean, it was so strict before.
Couldn't wear loungewear down to eat dinner.
He changed the whole menu and the boys just weren't enjoying it.
And I think he understood that, that going into the World Cup, it wasn't great.
