Hollywood has, over the past couple of years, really leaned hard into IP and the idea of established brands.
And in many cases, the brand is stronger than the actor in question.
If you think of the Marvel Cinematic Universe,
Iconic characters, Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man.
But none of that success carries over to the actors' later films.
People go and see a Captain America movie, they don't see a Chris Evans movie.
People go and see a Thor movie, they don't follow Chris Hemsworth to go and see Black Hat, for example, or Spider-Head, or any of the other projects that he's done.
I think that's the same with directors as well, if that makes sense.
No, expectation is that this weekend it's going to clear $200 million worldwide, and then it just has an open field.

And that still managed to be the second highest grossing English language movie of that year in question.
