What did the study show?
The study uh is quite interesting actually.
They took all of the data from the NHS for patients that had had treatment for breast cancer or lung cancer in twenty fourteen.
So it's almost thirty thousand patients.
And they looked at mortality within a month of their last line of chemotherapy, basically.
And uh found that there were some factors that
predetermined which people would respond and which people would die from those chemotherapies.
Now that's not necessarily surprising.
Um the shock was how it was reported more than anything else.
And just briefly what people were at most risk with
Was it any surprise?
People not really.
Things that uh things like age, people with lung cancer that were already smokers.
Um so people that were more frail tended not to respond as well to chemotherapy, which is not that surprising.
Um people obviously with palliative chemotherapy.
People with palliative did worse.
Uh and there were some grainy differences between the different hospitals.
And there was differences between the hospitals which people should take note of.
