its severity was was less than a lot of things that happened in the world yes and yet people saw those photos and they were horrified by them and they weren't just horrified by look what we're doing to those people they asked themselves what are we doing to our own people here like what are we making our kids do in this place what is happening here and nowadays
I don't know if people would blink if they saw something like that.
I mean, they do see something like that on a weekly basis come out of Gaza, often posted by Israeli soldiers themselves.
And people have to find a way, it seems they have to find a way to rationalize and justify that stuff.
And so to do that, they've compromised their own most deeply held beliefs about what it means to be a civilized person.
And so when we go into Iran,
I'll never forget when Donald Trump was entertaining the prime minister of Japan and he mentioned, you know, the secrecy and the sneak attack that we started the Iran war off with.
And he kind of made that sly joke, but you guys understand that sneak attacks, right?
And I mean, for the president of the United States to compare the way we just correctly, in my view, compare the way we began this war to the day that shall live in infamy and to think back, you know, to the,
to Pearl Harbor and how they felt about that at the time, how we still feel about it now.
And then if you imagine that the attackers at Pearl Harbor had just happened to blow up a school full of little girls, I mean, it would be on page one of every history book that talked about that incident to this day, right?
Because it's something that offends our basic sense of decency and honor.
You don't launch a sneak attack in the middle of negotiations.
That's just not the way
European civilization has conditioned itself to behave over the years.
But we've compromised that stuff in very recent years, I think, to the point where the cognitive dissonance became so great that we either had to change our ways or we had to just give up on certain values.
And I unfortunately think that, you know, we've, at least our political class has gone the wrong direction on that.
