It's always tough for me because I don't like a lot of the actions that they're forced to take overseas in service of things that I think are beneath them.
And yet I know from personal experience that the guys themselves, those are our best people.
And they're often criticized by people who are not fit to tie their boot laces.
I agree.
And those guys, if you give them a good reason, they will go fight.
They will risk their own life unnecessarily to avoid the possibility of harming an enemy civilian.
That's who these guys are.
But when you remove that sense of honor, you know, that it's been on every recruiting ad and recruiting poster going back as far as you can imagine, when you tell them that we're going to launch a sneak attack in the middle of negotiations on a much weaker country, we're going to threaten to end their civilization and destroy their civilian infrastructure over a war we started for reasons that nobody's really bothered to even articulate to the American public, it becomes much more difficult to get those guys to do their job.
And I think that within the service, these guys are still duty-bound enough that they will do whatever we ask them to do.
But that's all the more reason not to abuse that trust.
And we really have.
We've just burned that credibility with our own people and I think with much of the rest of the world.
uh uh under conditions of strong organization leadership um internal internal discipline and really just the organizational aspect of it right when you look at world war one for example absolutely savage war where we were spraying cans of raid at enemy lines just to choke people to death with gases horrible horrible exterminationist war
but one that was almost entirely restricted to enemy soldiers.
And when soldiers were taken captive, they were treated with dignity and respect by all sides, by the way.
And when you see in Eastern and Central Europe, immediately after the war, same people who just fought this
relatively organized, relatively disciplined war from 1914 to 1918, when all the empires broke down and the states fell apart and organization went away, you saw a descent into chaos and madness that's straight out of ancient history books, where wars became...
exterminationist to entire societies, where the goal was to wipe people out and push them out.
And these are the same people who were fighting the Warner relative.
Right.
