I mean, I was Western front guys, but like on the Eastern, you know, because it was in the States specifically where everything fell apart, where the government, I mean, just
is something that i've really been trying to convey in my world war ii series right now because it's i think very difficult for most westerners to really picture the the trauma that this would cause i mean when i was talking to um my friend jaco a while back and he was describing how they'd be fighting in ramadi and it's just a insane gun battle mortars going off explosions gunshots going everywhere and so they would kick down a door take cover inside of a building
And it's somebody's house and like there's the wife and the kids are hiding under the table and like that's what's going on.
You have this flash of like, oh, wow, this is happening outside somebody's front door, you know.
And so back after the First World War, when the German Empire, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Russian Empire, so basically everywhere from the Rhine to Vladivostok, the government just disappeared.
all of them, in the course of about 18 months or so, all the governments disappeared.
There's no police to call.
There's no government to expect to come in and enforce order of any kind.
You really saw a complete descent into primitive sort of human tendencies as people started to really focus on their immediate survival as opposed to
you know, things that we would associate with civilization, meaning that, you know, the idea that you're living historically and are part of a chain of being that stretches out long before you were born and will continue long after you're dead.
And there's certain things that you're expected to uphold as you steward, you know, through these 70 or 80 years of your existence.
When it's your turn to steward your civilization, there's certain things that you're expected to uphold and make sure that
The next generation inherits them just as you inherited them.
When all that falls apart and your time horizon collapses to this afternoon because you're looking at your kids and there's no food and they're hungry and their bellies are bulging and their cheeks are sunken in, there's not going to be anything on your mind except for how do I feed my children?
And when people...
when when people's horizon shrinks down to that level becomes something very close to animals and that's what you that's what you saw happen immediately after the first world war in a lot of eastern central europe and so um this is something that you know from from a basic level you see you know you can think of a lot of things like this where
If you're the only person behaving this way, then it really makes no sense.
And you're just gonna end up nailed to a cross.
Like that's what's gonna happen to you.
But if everybody can come around and embrace these values and basically behave this way, then it's much, much better for everybody.
