You still have to realize where you are as an organization from a financial perspectives.
I have never felt myself and still don't feel that it's a wise move to make.
when you look at the risks that are attached to it, because the reality is, is if the player has a bad year, they opt in.
And if they get hurt, they opt in.
So double the amount that you're paying a player for one year, and that becomes two years.
And can you afford to do that?
And of course, we're also involved when it comes down to taxation.
I know other organizations are too.
But if they opt out, it's generally because they've had a good year then.
So that has not changed for years.
You always are open minded to do things that you think are best.
But it's generally not a philosophy that I have liked, we have liked to do.
Will you be open minded?
I guess you're always open minded to anything.
It's a policy I've had for a long time.
And I think I would say the majority of clubs have that policy.
Well, it did get very close.
I won't go into the blow by blow, but it's a situation where we got to the point.
And his agent, again, who I talked to, Matt Ricardo, I'd always told him, and I think it's the right thing to do.
If we got to the point where we thought we would go in a different direction, I wouldn't want him to read about it in the paper.
