That's amazing.
We say make or miss league all the time, right?
As if the defense has nothing to do with it.
Field goal kickers don't make or miss.
But no, to be fair, though, I would say that the idea that NBA defense is actually half the game, it is weighted heavily toward the offense.
And the defense is always in this is every sport.
Defense is always reactionary.
You're always trying to guess where the offense is going.
That's why the offense has an advantage.
So it's not quite 50-50.
So the best defensive player in the league certainly should have an edge on an average offensive guy when it comes to awards.
But this idea that Wemby is the best defensive player, and thus, if he's just an above-average offensive guy, he should be MVP, I think that's a bridge too far.
You have to be exceptional on offense.
