That's difficult to deal with.
Like you can handle the hate, but it's hard to β
think about fake support.
I don't know if that's the right word, but talking about your kids helping you clean up the cafe and all that kind of, yeah, people don't see that and that's one thing.
But there's people who do know that you're doing that and they do know the grind because they're at the friend bonfire and you're talking about this stuff.
Yet even though they have the full context of what you actually go through, they still decide not to support.
You know, there's an awkward tension.
You don't really want to ask them because you kind of expect it, but then they don't and you don't know how to react when they, yeah, I find that's probably harder than all the rest.
I don't know, to be fair.
Like, it might be the case, but I just thought that people who I thought would support me would support me in the way that I thought support was given.
Yeah, yeah, people don't get it.
Well, that's the sense I've made of it in my mind.
Because I think if they did get it, then they would support.
And it extends beyond, we're using the word friends here, but it also extends beyond, like when you think about supporting Maori Polynesian businesses.
But like something me and my family are really proud of is we went through our expenses at the beginning of the year and we looked at where our spend was going and we looked at businesses that we were supporting that weren't MΔori or weren't Vicar owned.
