Well, essentially a state is the assets and liabilities that exist at the time that you decease.
So what you have to administer.

A testator is the person who writes the will.
So when we talk about the person making the will, we talk about a testator.
Essentially, there's a testator, male, testatrix, female, but often it's just testator to cover the field.
Well, beneficiary is the person or organisation who will be receiving a benefit from your will.
Well, executor is the person who manages your estate or administrates your estate.
So that's the person who has the responsibility to carry out the wishes that you've expressed in your will.
Okay, if you die without a will or a valid will, you're said to have died intestate and as a result of which your estate will be distributed according to a statutory formula.
Correct, yes.
Well, we talk about getting a grant of probate, which is an order of the court through the registrar of probates, which officially proves the will and formally appoints the executor to act.
So where you've got a will, it's a grant of probate.
Where you don't have a will, you die in test date, we talk about a grant of letters of administration.
Correct.
Okay, well, a will is the written document that deals with your assets and, you know, it gives effect to your wishes.
It's your voice.
It's where you set out what you want to have happen when you go.
