You need to understand with superannuation, is that likely to come to the estate or not?

So understanding what you've got is the first thing.

Then, of course, you've got to think about who you want to receive and how you want them to receive it because there's different things that you can do.

Things like there can be a gift of money, a legacy, or a gift of items.

The main thing is to have a proper remainder clause.

In other words, and I give the balance of all of my assets to whoever you want them to go to.

And very important is to make sure that there is a gift over clause, an effective gift over clause.

So I give everything I own to Kate, but if something happens to Kate, then I will give it to all of her children or the lost dog's home or whatever it might be, but at least having thought about it.

So you've got to think about who you want, how they want it, and then options.

And then, of course, very important...

to determine who do you want to manage your estate.

Now, it's got to be someone who's ready, willing, and able to do it.

So they've got to want to do it, they've got to be available to do it, and they've got to be skilled to do it.

So give some thought to that.

And the other thing is wishes.

Because a will is...

a place that you can express wishes.

Don't have to, it's not compulsory, but if you want to, it's a good place to put your funeral wishes.

What do I want to have happen to my body?

Do I want to be cremated or buried or a service?
