So that if your daughter is attacked by this other girl and she responds in kind and she bites back or she hits back and the teacher goes bananas, just go into the teacher and say, I'll always support my daughter fighting back.
The issue is not my daughter.
The issue is this other girl who's the aggressor.
You need to deal with that.
When you deal with that, my daughter is not going to be hitting or biting anybody.
And so I think then your child knows that you've got their corner and that they have they have permission to actually defend
again.
fights in the yard.
Yeah, so there's many things going on and so much of it is very natural and normal, including, unfortunately, the vaping.
I think it's just one of those rites of passage for lots of teenagers.
They're going to try it out because it's there to be tried out and there's an element of risk involved in it.
And, you know, their friends might be doing it, all those kinds of things.
But there are different issues for this mum.
So I think the first thing for her is just to acknowledge how hard it is that her son is growing up and becoming interested in many other things outside the family home and particularly a new girl.
And I think that loss is something that all parents will feel to some extent.
But I think, you know, for mothers and sons, for fathers and daughters, I think it sometimes is harder that you feel that pull that they're now pulling away from you.
um and the irony is if he wasn't pulling away from you your job would actually be to start pushing him away in a very gentle kind of way because he needs to become separate and and independent of you and so your your goal really is to try to maintain the relationship so even though you might get the same kind of physical level of snuggles you can still have the conversation you can still be interested in his life you can still uh you know encourage him to be interested in the family life and all the other bits that are going on and generally
you know, most teenagers will pull away and then they'll swing back, you know, in their late teens, early twenties, they, you know, they re-engage with the family and what's going on in the family.
So I think you need, so the reality is you can't stop him, you know, unless you're with him 24-7 and supervising and intervening.
And that's not going to happen.
