So they rebooted it, reloaded it, and everything seems fine.
But I think this is a reminder, their Outlook works differently than ours.
They don't have a persistent connection to Earth, so it gets synced periodically.
And I'm guessing at one point the syncing
didn't work, which considering the complexities of internet in space, I'm willing to give them a bit of a pass.
So maybe this wasn't just Microsoft's problem or Outlook's fault.
Maybe it's the fact that it's Outlook flying through space at 25,000 miles an hour.
But if you're looking for another excuse to not use Outlook and maybe pick another email package,
This is probably it because obviously Microsoft not very happy about this.
Their shares went down after this story broke.
Yeah, I mean, another day, another example of AI being used or misused in ways we probably wish people wouldn't.
And so in this case, it's individuals who want to come to Canada as a refugee and they're submitting their applications for asylum, but they're using AI to generate them.
And we know AI gets things wrong.
We know it cites stories that never existed.
It cites documents that also aren't real.
It cites things that simply didn't happen.
And so they were noticing that the applications were getting longer over time and that when they used AI, and so the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the Immigration and Refugee Board,
They were using AI to try to detect when AI was being used.
And they say that those numbers are going up as well.
They're not saying any more than that.
