Feeling the limitation of working in a clinical setting.

So I w uh uh

at the pinnacle of my clinical career, I could say I was a executive clinical director of an outpatient addiction treatment center with a hundred and thirty patients that I was responsible for and a team of ten people.

And at that point it was great.

in some respects, but it was also incredibly limiting.

There there wasn't much freedom.

To work with people.

You know, everything was manualized.

There were all these protocols.

There was kind of audits by insurance companies.

There were um policies and procedures.

There's compliance standards.

Everything was tracked with diagnostic assessments on the medical health record.

Uh and there was a moment sitting with this one woman, she'd been in and out of rehab and detox three times.

Sitting down with her for a forty five minute session.

to try and stop her from killing herself or, you know, relapsing back onto

Um heroin and alcohol.

And we just looked at each other's faces.
