Suddenly, all property is the government's property, which leads to mob rule, which means 50% of people can take whatever they want from the other 40%, 49%.
51% can say, I want 49% people to give me half their assets.
And then you have a very slippery slope to nowhere.
That's not good tax policy.
It'll cause people to flee and run around and get away, and it'll cause more discontent, but it doesn't solve the policy problems.
It doesn't solve the problems that the majority of Americans don't own assets.
They don't own equities.
They don't own a piece of the productivity that drove America.
Think about how fucked up this is.
These 50% of Americans that were told, when you retire, you will have social security and it will take care of you,
They never got to own a piece of the American businesses that drove the economic engine and success of the United States.
All that they owned was a 3.5% treasury bond from the government.
That's what they owned their whole life.
3.5% yield per year signed by the federal government will give you 3.5% at the end of your life.
And by the way, it's capped in how much you're going to make.
If they had bought the S&P since 1982, they would have $37 trillion.
They all were left behind.
That policy needs to be fixed.
We can fix that policy.
We can fix the policy where everyone's getting these what are called defined benefit programs, these pension plans in public governments.
