And maybe that's the direction you're looking for, but.
Yeah, I'd certainly be in support of designating the most expensive gas station as the designated housing element site.
Certainly want to preserve our affordable gas stations, but I wouldn't mind trading unaffordable gas for affordable housing.
Thank you, Chair.
So if we were to...
designate De Anza College as a priority housing element site and look at putting housing on De Anza College and up zone it appropriately, would that count towards the city's RENA units?
well i mean their parking lots are rather large so we could designate you know portions of their lot as so my i guess my question is if it's property owned by fhda but located in the city do we get credit for the arena units i think they would have to have some real show interest in doing that i know stanford does that with the county because stanford has some sort of an arrangement where they
Okay, so I would be supportive of taking parcels of parking lot and doing a reasonable density, not something that just dwarfs the rest of Cupertino.
I mean, we do have single family homes around by Stelling and McLellan and the schools.
So I think part of this exercise is the art of meeting our numbers.
Because the more we deliver actually financeable and buildable projects, the sooner we'll be back doing this exercise again, because developers waive their affordable units.
And we have sort of learned that no good deed goes unpunished, and that's exactly what we're dealing with here.
Yeah, through the Chair, I'd go even stronger than that and just look at if we designate the site and we get the units and whether they choose to build as their prerogative, but the bigger question in my mind is what is the accounting for RENA units when the land is owned by another agency?
And I would extend that question to the school districts as well, if we build.
I'm not saying we should, but hypothetically, if some very low density, maybe five to 10 unit,
5 to 10 DU per acre on a school site accommodated housing for first responder and teachers such that it didn't overwhelm the neighborhood, very, very low density.
Do we get credit for that?
Okay, so yeah, definitely want to see if there's any nuance there, and if there isn't, then we should.
I would support De Anza College as a potential site because there is large parking lots at very reasonable, moderate, or whatever densities that don't barf the city skyline and neighborhoods.
Along those lines, what is the accounting for the Wolf Road teacher housing that is county land?
