I've done that too.
As you're getting used to people bowling quickly at you, it is like learning to drive a car.
So when you first drive a car, 30 miles an hour seems ridiculously quick.
When you get the hang of that, especially people like young boys,
You want to go to 50.
And suddenly your mother said, no, don't go over 50.
It's very dangerous.
And then you get balls and bats.
And she is right.
So you build it up incrementally.
And at the same time, what you're also doing is building your instinct, training your instinct.
So when it gets to 90 miles an hour, as you're facing Andy Roberts or Malcolm Marshall or Michael Holding, all these greats from the 80s, it does whiz past your ears.

Sometimes you do run out of time and you think it's only by some sort of weird semi-religious belief that it misses you as opposed to hitting you in the head.
And at the times like that, it is that sort of life flashing in front of your eyes thing.
Whereas you do surprisingly have enough time when you've built that level of instinct and trust yourself to react.
Obviously, you have to react, put the bat where the ball is, or to get the bat out of the way, or to get yourself out of the way.
And all that happens not because you've gone, oh, yes, I know what's about to happen here.
