I'm keeping an eye on my watch to see, you know, at this rate, will I make it on time or not?

And at that point, the answer was no.

The added complication to this, though, was no cell phone coverage.

So I couldn't call and tell anybody, hey, this is the situation, this is the scenario, because there was no way to communicate with them.

The only time I thought I would go back was at the beginning.

And that was, you know, if I get to an impassable situation, then I'll have to go back.

As long as I'm moving forward, I still have a chance.

Again, it's not that far.

It's just 120 miles.

I just have to keep going.

At this point, it was dark.

It's late.

It's probably between 11 and 12 at night.

I'm about 40 or 50 miles into a 124-mile trip on a normal day.

There's no way through.

Part of what's going through my mind is I can't make the situation change.

I have to figure out a way to change what I'm doing.

Find a way to get through.

There were huge trees that were laying down and still blocking one of the lanes.

So very careful driving around these downed trees.
