They had a bit of a different kind of motivation today to the other GC teams.
But that also meant that it was just complete chaos out there.
And again, with these third week vibes, third week legs, it just took so long for a group to go.
And it ended up pretty much being the usual suspects up there.
But what was really interesting was we didn't know, and I don't think anybody really thought of this being a sprint day.
I think it was, and that's what I think shaped today's race, because the longer it took the breakaway to go, the less kilometers there were left, which meant with the sprinters still left in the peloton,
there was enough chance for them to rally together and bring it back.
And then you had this battle royale between Alperson, Deceuninck and Lidl Trek.
I mean, it was obscene.
Mathieu van der Poel was just active everywhere.
I mean, I think they decided he could go for the stage today.
He was racing like that.
That's how he raced the first half.
And he was making the race.
And Mads Pedersen was on the back foot for almost the first half of the race, just desperately trying to get back into it.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, it's really interesting because you see, again, in this third week, how I use this word with respect, how easy it is for the GC riders compared to everyone else.
So everyone else is just battling around, trying to get to the front, trying to get a move, trying to fight in the peloton.
Because what happened was the peloton wasn't really this solid group moving around.
